In addition to my storytelling studio CMMedia and entrepreneurial pursuits at our Age Box Ventures, I have also been a writer, author, creator, and broadcaster, predominantly in travel and culture spaces. And while I travel in all types of ways, I know a lot about luxury travel given the previous roles working with global luxury hospitality brands, including leading Four Seasons Hotels communications in Beverly Hills (Beverly Wilshire) and London (UK Collection).
I did not experience the world of luxury until adulthood, when my early days in New York City (and later Los Angeles and London) opened my eyes, fulfilling all of the possibilities I previously learned through film. I enjoyed learning everything I could from experts and experiences around me, and love to share insight with others. I had more relaxed beginnings growing up in Western Canada and Colorado, and road trips were our main travel experience, which is something I still love doing today as an enthusiastic solo traveler. I have shared my stories and tips on my previous blogs, podcasts, social media, and in many publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Vogue, The New Yorker, CNN, BBC, Skift, Forbes, and more. I also wrote a children’s travel book dedicated to my niece & nephew titled “To Be We: The Adventures of Owen and Lucy”, previously the Travel Oracles podcast, and more which you can read in the about section if interested.
This brings me to Luxe Sonder. I believe everyone deserves little luxuries. Sometimes that means big, sweeping luxury travel experiences. Sometimes that is booking some you time in a local hotel spa. Or taking a cooking class with a favorite chef, whether in person or online. Or recreating favorite locations though interior design or fashion choices. There are so many ways to bring joy and comfort into you life, at every level. So here I will share tips, guides, news, and insider expert knowledge fro the world of luxury travel and lifestyle, to enjoy at home or on the road, wherever you are.
Oh, and what does ‘sonder’ mean, you may ask? It stems from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows (DoOS) , meaning “The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one’s own, which they are constantly living despite one’s personal lack of awareness of it.”
